With over 30 years of experience and a lifelong passion for vibrant cuisine, he’s reimagined the menu while honoring the flavors and memories that regulars have loved for decades.
The experience is as much about the vibe as it is the food. Thursday through Saturday, live jazz drifts through the room, cocktails are poured, and brunches stretch into the afternoon. Dinesh Sharma is the owner of Johnny G’s and a highly respected chef with decades of international experience. Over his career, he has opened and led more than 60 restaurants across the Greater Toronto Area, shaping successful concepts from the ground up.
Trained in five-star hotels in India, where he served as Head Chef, Dinesh refined his craft across diverse global cuisines. His cooking is rooted in precision, creativity, and deep respect for quality ingredients.
At Johnny G’s, he brings world-class culinary standards into a neighbourhood setting — blending global flavours with warmth, soul, and accessibility. His vision is simple: create food that tells a story and a space guests return to not just for meals, but for moments.

Vivek “Rocky” is the creative architect behind the cultural revival of Johnny G’s in Cabbagetown. More than a hospitality partner, Rocky is the visionary who shaped the restaurant’s artistic identity from the ground up overseeing everything from art direction and interior design to branding, atmosphere, and live jazz programming.
Every visual element, mood shift, and experiential detail inside Johnny G’s carries his imprint. Inspired by the soul of New Orleans and the heritage of Cabbagetown, Rocky personally curated the aesthetic blending vintage warmth, music-driven energy, and neighbourhood intimacy into one cohesive experience.
He believes restaurants should not just serve food they should create culture.
With a hands-on approach, Rocky transformed Johnny G’s into a living jazz house where musicians are supported, local artistry is elevated, and guests feel part of something authentic. From the lighting and layout to the rhythm of the evenings, his philosophy is clear: hospitality is storytelling.
